Four Ways to Get Out of The House and Spice Up Your Life

Published on April 27th, 2011 by FPEServices

Do you ever feel like every day is the same? You get up, go to work, come home, eat dinner, and watch TV until you go to bed. You wash, rinse, and repeat. Are you tired of the same ol’ boring routine?

The good news is that you don’t have to settle for a life of boredom and repetition. It takes very little to overcome your stale routine and experience more joy. Sometimes, a night alone in front of the television is the perfect way to unwind. However, sometimes you crave something a little out of the ordinary. Thankfully, there are many things you can do about it.

Try one of these boredom-busting activities to liven up your day:

  1. Spend Time With A Friend. Sometimes, the best way to cure boredom is to visit a friend you haven’t seen in a while. Catch up on old times and talk about the things that are important to both of you. Do something together that you both enjoy. Choose an activity you haven’t done in a while and reconnect.
  • Even when you’re feeling down and you’d rather be alone, try visiting a friend. Often, even a short visit can bring an unexpected feeling of joy. Plus, you’ll be doing something active instead of sitting at home and feeling blue about your challenges.
  1. Hit the Driving Range. Even if you’re not a golfer, hitting a bucket of golf balls as far as you can provides tremendous stress relief. Go with some friends and have a blast! When you get outdoors in the sunshine, your focus is bound to change and your perspective on life will be a much happier one.
  1. Visit Libraries and Bookstores. If you prefer peace and quiet, experience adventure without ever leaving your own familiar area. Visit your local library or a bookstore that encourages you to sit down and read. Many bookstores now offer coffee shops inside and comfortable chairs for those who want to sit a while.
  • Learn a new skill or engross yourself in a novel that takes your mind far away from the mundane cares of your everyday life.
  • You can even meet new people while you’re perusing the literature. Strike up a conversation with someone who has similar interests. You may just meet a new best friend who goes on to introduce you to many more exciting activities.
  1. Play Board Games. With the rise of video games and other forms of electronic entertainment, you may have forgotten how much fun board games can be!

  • Enjoy a few laughs with friends or familyand your favorite board games of the past. Or try some of the newer board games. Whether the games are old or new, you’ll still make some great memories!

If you want to spice up your life and experience something different, the options available to you are endless. The only limit is an unwillingness to leave your comfort zone. If you’re proactive about getting out and enjoying some new experiences, you’ll be rewarded with a deeper connection to the world around you and a greater satisfaction with your life.

Get the Body You Want This Summer!

Published on April 20th, 2011 by FPEServices

Like a lot of people, you probably want to slim down and shape up this summer, right? Whether your goal is to achieve that dream swimsuit-body or to just be able to walk down the boardwalk confident about your appearance, having a well-toned and healthy looking physique is a great goal to have. The good news is that you can achieve your goals, if you work hard and balance several different workout strategies. It does take work and determination, but you can get the body you’ve always dreamed of!

Strategy #1 – Burning Fat: As you probably know, one of the keys to losing weight is burning fat. This is a common goal for many who want to lose weight, especially as spring and summer approach. The great news is that burning fat isn’t that hard to do!

One of the best ways to begin burning fat is to add a few cardio workouts to your weekly schedule. You can go hiking, take a quick walk, jog, run on the treadmill or do a number of other things to get your blood pumping. While it may not sound like much fun, with the invention of iPods and MP3 players, it’s not nearly as boring as it sounds!

Strategy #2 – Toning Up: While it’s important to get your cardio workouts in every week in order to burn fat, this is just one strategy necessary for getting your summer dream body. For those that are in fairly good shape, your focus should be on toning up to improve your appearance while maintaining your health. Now, if you aren’t in good shape and are overweight, your primary focus will be on building muscle because that helps burn more fat. However, you still need to incorporate a few toning exercises into your weekly workout schedule as well.

An easy way to begin toning your body is to lift weights. You need to make sure that you start with the smaller, lighter weights to prevent serious injury. Then, once your strength increases, you can add more weight to keep your body challenged.

To get the most out of your toning workouts, you should focus more on how many repetitions you do than the amount of weight you’re lifting. Remember, you’re just trying to tone up right now. Additionally, when you lift as much weight as possible all the time, you are setting yourself up for a plateau, which aids in discouragement. More repetitions and less weight will have a greater toning effect than the opposite.

Now, you may be one who feels like the gym is only for those who already have perfect bodies. This isn’t true at all. However, you will find many fit people at the gym, but the good news is that they aren’t going to be worried about what you’re doing – they’re concentrating on their own fitness goals. So, get out of the house and go to the gym…your body will thank you later.

Strategy #3 – Building Muscle: As previously discussed to burn fat, you need to do cardio a few times a week as well as toning exercises. After a while, you’ll begin to notice your clothes loosening up and a more toned body, as well as, a smaller number on the scale. Now it’s time to begin adding more muscle.

In order to build muscle, you are going to need to switch things up a bit. Instead of doing more repetitions with less weight, you’ll need to lift more weight and do fewer repetitions. When you notice the weights are less challenging, add more weight to keep your body challenged and your muscles growing.

You don’t have to follow a complicated workout plan as easy, simpler plans work too. Depending on your muscle-building goals, 8-12 repetitions at a time is fine. However, it’s always a good idea to consult with a personal trainer because these professionals can help you develop a more personalized workout to help you achieve your goals.

It is true that developing a workout routine can be somewhat overwhelming. However, it’s less daunting and easier to do when you have a goal in mind and can visualize what your life will be like once you reach it. All you have to do is find the optimal balance of cardio and weight training to lose weight, burn fat and achieve your dream body!

Martial Arts and It’s Benefits For You

Published on April 13th, 2011 by FPEServices

Perhaps, you are getting tired of your boring and mundane lifestyle. You’re tired of doing the same things day in and day out, and are ready to shake things up a bit? Maybe, you’re even ready to begin a new form of exercise? If this sounds like you, then it sounds like martial arts may be a perfect fit for you!

Martial arts isn’t just a great way to break out of your “normal” lifestyle, but it’s great for your health, as well. Below are some of the benefits you’ll experience with martial arts.

#1 – Enjoy a Finer Physique – Not only do many people get tired of their usual lifestyles, but they get tired of looking at the same body day in and day out. Well, martial arts will greatly enhance your appearance and create the finer physique you’ve been looking for. Not only will martial arts give you a better physique, but it’ll also improve your cardiovascular health, flexibility, agility and personal stamina.

While most types of exercise workout start out exciting, they often become boring and get harder and harder to make yourself do. However, you’re unlikely to experience this with martial arts. The classes are generally only an hour long and are so much fun that they’re over before you really felt like they started!  Not only will you look forward to your next martial arts class because it’s fun, but you’ll love the fast results your body will be getting. You’ll be dropping weight and toning up pretty fast!

#2 – Protection – In this day and age, knowing how to defend yourself is something you need to do. Martial Arts is the perfect solution for those wanting to improve their overall health and learn how to defend themselves. You never know when you’re going to have to protect you or your family. Not only is this for adults, but martial arts classes are excellent for children to take to. They also need to know self-defense techniques.

#3 – Experience More Confidence – If you view yourself as an out-of-shape person with a boring lifestyle, then you most likely have a low self-image. Martial arts will give you more confidence in yourself as you become more skilled and begin to physically change. There won’t be any more self-loathing as you walk past a mirror in the morning, or experiencing that feeling of lowliness when you meet new people!

One of the great things about improving your self-confidence is that you’ll begin to view things you once deemed impossible as being reachable! Martial arts can help you set and achieve new goals for yourself!

#4 – Build Mental Strength – There are many people who have trouble concentrating on normal everyday tasks. If you are one of these people and begin taking martial arts classes, you will learn techniques that will help you to stay focused. You can apply these techniques to any area of your life whether it’s at home, work or school. Once you experience this type of peace and focus, you’ll begin to wonder how you ever did it before.

#5 – Stress Reduction – If you have a hard time dealing with stress, martial arts provides an easy way for you to release this stress. It’s a great place to come if you’re constantly stressed out. Plus, when you come to an actual class, you’ll be able to focus on what’s going on around you and forget the outside stressors bogging you down. More than likely, once you leave class, your shoulders will feel a little lighter.

Martial arts is the perfect solution for anyone looking for a new fun and exciting way to get in shape, spice up their routine and escape from the mundane! Martial arts provides participants with a mid-week reprieve from everyday life. Once you “hit the mats,” you’ll be jarred into action as you spar with others in the class and the heart-pumping exercises will “whip” you into shape in no time. If you’ve never tried martial arts before, now’s the best time to start!

Living Healthy: Mentally and Physically

Published on April 6th, 2011 by FPEServices

Your mental and physical health both contribute to the driving forces behind the life you’ve always wanted to experience. For example, it’s harder to take the fullest advantage of being in great physical shape if you’re emotionally down and mentally defeated. Likewise, attributes like confidence and self-esteem are diminished when you’re not taking care of your physical health.

If you want to live the healthy life you deserve, focus on both your mind and body. This is easier than it sounds. All it takes is practice to create habits that support your health. The key is to start. Once you begin, your momentum and success will keep you motivated to continue your fit lifestyle.

Finding Excellent Physical Health

Make peak physical fitness a priority to support your new, balanced way of life. If you want more energy and stamina, try some of the following:

  • See your doctor at least once a year for a routine physical checkup.
  • Quit smoking, even if you’ve tried before and failed.
  • Cut back on alcohol consumption if you currently drink.
  • Eat more fruits and vegetables. Eat less fat and sugar.
  • Find easy ways to add exercise to your daily routine, like walking.

This list can seem daunting at first, but you can begin to experience greater physical health with small steps. Baby steps in the right direction keep you moving forward until your momentum sustains you.

Instead of allowing yourself to become overwhelmed, make one small change in your daily routine and practice that change until it becomes a habit. Then add another small, healthy lifestyle change. Your confidence will grow and your motivation will remain strong.

If you need to lose weight, for example, start by taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Want to quit smoking? There are plenty of medications and support groups to help you. Healthy options are all over the place, if you’re willing to look for them.

You can create the physical body you desire if you’re willing to get started today. Your motivation will increase when you begin seeing the results from your new, wise choices.

Finding Excellent Mental Health

Although your physical health is very important, for the best results, you want your mind to be healthy, too. When your body and mind are healthy and work well together, you’ll feel better. You’ll have more energy and your successful efforts will motivate you to create even more physical and mental strength.

Like a healthy body, you create a healthy mind through exercise. Take a class, learn a new language, read something challenging, or engage in stimulating conversation with others who share your interests.

This mental stimulation keeps your mind from stagnating. As you learn new things, seek opportunities to teach others what you’ve learned. You’ll retain more and grow in confidence when you share your new knowledge with others.

Small steps in the right direction can lead to incredible rewards. Experience a greater level of energy and vitality than you ever thought was possible by making your physical condition a priority. Increase your knowledge and confidence by keeping your mind sharp. Together, your physical and mental health forms the basis of a rich life worth living!
