Stress Relief: Clear Your Mind Through Meditation

Published on September 28th, 2011 by FPEServices

Meditation is a great way to clear your mind of the worries and stresses of the day. If you’re not familiar with this method of relaxation, you may think it’s difficult, however with practice, you’ll find that it’s not hard at all.

Starting a Meditative Practice

Want to know what the hardest part of meditation is? Here’s a hint: It has nothing to do with meditation at all!

The hardest part is simply making the time to meditate. Once you believe in its power and see its results, you won’t let anything get in the way of you and your peaceful practice. It might be tough in the beginning, but stay with it! It’ll be well worth the effort.

Make a goal for yourself and evaluate your progress as you go. Commit to at least weekly meditations for four weeks. After this time, evaluate whether the meditation has made a positive difference your life.

These meditation tips will help you in your quest for obtaining inner peace:

  1. Choose a time to meditate. Find a good time for you to meditate. You can start with shorter sessions in the beginning, but generally you should shoot for between 30 minutes to an hour during each session. Right when you get up or before you go to bed are good times to practice.
  • Make meditation a priority for yourself just like you would for everything else that’s important in your life.
  1. Keep an elevated posture. If you slouch, you won’t be in a good position for meditation and you’re more likely to feel like falling asleep. Elevate your posture and you’ll feel more open to the world. Relax in a crossed legged or other comfortable sitting position and rest your hands in your lap.
  1. Focus on your breath. Your main goal is to keep your attention on your breath as you breathe in and breathe out. It may help to say a mantra and visualize breathing in good energy and letting out the bad energy with each cycle.
  • Breathe at a pace that’s comfortable for you. Work toward deep, long breaths.
  1. Acknowledge your thoughts. You want to remain fully present while you’re meditating, and there’s no doubt that thoughts are going to enter your mind while you’re trying to concentrate.
  • Don’t be frustrated by these thoughts, but at the same time don’t let thoughts take your attention completely away. Acknowledge your thoughts and then bring your focus back to your breath.
  1. Fight the urge to sleep. Many people complain of the urge to sleep during meditation sessions, mainly because it’s relaxing and you’re meditating during early morning or late evening hours. Try to remain awake with focus and good posture.
  1. Maintain your practice. After you discover the many benefits of meditating, it will most likely become a part of you forever. You may not have time to do this every day, but it’s important to keep up with regular meditation sessions.

Meditation will help you keep a peaceful perspective on life and can tell you a lot of things about your true self. You can use it to relax, motivate, or energize you, depending on your purpose for each session. As you get more experienced with meditation, a more joyful and peaceful life will be yours!

Getting Past Life Obstacles

Published on September 21st, 2011 by FPEServices

Some of life’s obstacles are much bigger than others. Regardless of the size of the one you might be facing today, though, you can get past it. It may appear to loom, covering most of the future, but it’s only the angle from which you’re looking that makes it seem so big.

You can overcome challenges when you learn to see them differently!

Do you tend to talk about how big your hindrances are, rather than discussing how big your abilities are, or how big your Higher Power is? No matter what your beliefs, there’s something out there, something valuable, that’s bigger than the obstacles you’re facing today.

Focus on what you’re capable of, not on what’s trying to hold you back.

Seeking Solutions Effectively

First of all, ensure that you take time each day to remind yourself of your value. Even if you feel silly at first, reminding yourself what you can do and how important you are will start to resonate with your spirit.

This process will enable you to begin to truly believe in yourself. At some point during the resulting rise of your self-confidence, you’ll also realize that there are ways to get around life’s challenges, no matter how difficult they are.

You’ll know that you have the power to make a difference in your future!

How you look at your obstacles makes a big difference in how large they seem and how difficult it will be to work through them. Sometimes, what appears to be an obstacle is really an opportunity to move to a higher level in your personal or professional life. It’s important to keep your eyes, mind, and heart open to that possibility.

Focus your thoughts on:

• What you can do instead of what you can’t
• Who can help you get through the obstacle you’re facing
• What rewards lie on the other side of the obstacle
• What the obstacle can teach you for the future
• How to form a plan to get around or through the obstacle

When you focus on what you can do, what comes next, and what rewards you’ll see in the future, it’ll be difficult to stay upset about the setback.

Consider this: Were it not for that challenge you’re facing now, you might not work to strengthen your talents and become more than you are today. You’re wonderful the way you are, but there’s always room to improve and feel even better about yourself.

Moving Forward

No matter how much you think about an obstacle, you also have to do something about it. It’s not leaving on its own, so planning to move past it is important. Avoid turning and running from it. Challenges are there for a reason: to separate those who are committed to moving forward from those who are not.

Show your commitment today by laying out a plan to handle your obstacle. Even if you aren’t sure just what to do, you can start by envisioning what you want to accomplish, that is, your big goal. Next, break that big goal down into sections. Then, break those sections down to small, manageable steps.

When you follow this strategy, you’ll be able to identify steps you can accomplish in a day, week, or month. Those are the kinds of goals you want to focus on when you have a big obstacle in your way.

Not only will smaller, more manageable goals show you what needs to be done, but you’ll also avoid overwhelming yourself with everything on your plate.

Some challenges can be overcome in a short period of time, and others take longer. There may be setbacks, and you’ll have some trial and error. However, staying committed to moving forward will allow you to conquer any obstacle you have in your path, no matter what it is.

Relieve Stress: Get Rid of the Drama

Published on August 31st, 2011 by FPEServices

Most people like to keep drama at a minimum in their lives, but sometimes it’s not so easy. During stressful times or when dealing with certain people, you might find drama popping up more than you’d like.

Maybe you’re at a breaking point, and you’re ready to finally eliminate the drama from your life once and for all. Keep in mind that it’s nearly impossible to eliminate it all together, but there are certain strategies you can follow to keep it to a minimum.

Consider adding the following strategies to your drama elimination methods:

1. Keep to yourself whenever possible. It’s almost always best to adopt a “mind your own business” attitude when you’re dealing with other people. When you snoop around in someone’s business, you really never know what can of worms you’re opening. If someone asks or invites you into their life, that’s one thing, but you should avoid the urge to pry.

2. Avoid participating in gossip. Humans are social creatures and they tend to talk about each other. Sometimes you might think that your gossip is good news, so it’s okay, but you never know how someone else might spin what you’re saying. It’s best to avoid it whenever possible.

  • If you have issues with someone, have a conversation directly with them. Then they’ll know how you feel without hearing a version of the story from someone else.

3. Make efforts to stop gossip. You’ll no doubt be in situations where you’re not participating in it, but you’re hearing other people gossip. It’s difficult to go against the crowd and take a stand, but you must if you’re serious about eliminating drama.

  • You can choose to be silent and that way you won’t be held accountable, but you can also politely say that maybe the subject at hand should be changed to something else.

4. Be cautious when meeting new people. Of course you want to be friendly and inviting when you’re meeting people and making new friends. However, keep your guard up to some extent because you really never know when something you say might be seen as hurtful or offensive, even when you didn’t mean it that way.

  • Before sharing personal opinions, ensure you know someone well enough to prevent misunderstandings.

5. Analyze past dramatic situations. Think about the scenarios that led to drama for you in the past. Was it a simple misunderstanding? Is there a topic that always leads to drama and arguments? You can definitely learn from past situations that transpired negatively. Reflection can help you avoid those similar situations in the future.

6. Learn how to release your emotions in a healthy way. Drama can lead you to feel some strong emotions. Even if you’re trying to eliminate drama, you can’t just avoid everything that you’re feeling. It can lead to more upset outbursts, since you’re just bottling up those strong emotions. Instead, learn positive ways to release your emotions.

  • If you’re starting to feel upset because things are getting heated, remove yourself from the situation. Grab some fresh air and return to the situation once you’ve found a cool head.
  • Exercising is a great way to release emotions and pent-up stress.
  • Daily relaxation is also important. Do something that you enjoy each day just for you!

Remember that some people just love drama, and they might be trying to stir some up for you. Refuse to participate in their game. You can choose what you want to allow into your life.

Express Your Gratitude

Published on August 30th, 2011 by FPEServices

Emotions can bottle up inside you, but you don’t have to let them. You can master your thoughts, feelings, and emotions and learn to let them out in positive ways, so they don’t cause you stress and harm.

One of the best ways to improve your health and handle your emotions is by expressing your gratitude. Yes, really!

Ask yourself: What are you thankful for? Who matters in your life? Even when life may not be going as planned, there are still many things to be grateful for.

Give Your Gratitude Away

No matter how much you appreciate someone in your life, that person may not have any idea about how you feel. Rather than just assume they know your thoughts and feelings, go ahead and speak up. Tell them how you really feel and what’s in your heart.

See the smile? It feels good, doesn’t it? When you smile back, laugh, and even share tears of joy and love, it helps your heart, mind, and body thrive. It releases a flood of chemicals that your body just loves. It’s a “feel-good” thing to do. That’s true for both you and the receiver of your gratitude.

Maybe you’re grateful for something you have, as opposed to a person. Did you ever think about sending a thankful message to the company that makes the products you love? They probably hear all about customer complaints, but how much gratitude do they get for the work they’ve done to make lives better or more convenient? Give them some of your gratitude and you’ll spread joy all around!

Ways to Show Your Gratitude

Showing gratitude is something you can do quite easily and all it costs you is a little bit of time and effort.

Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Tell your loved ones you care for them.
  • Hug a friend who’s hurting.
  • Smile at a stranger.
  • Write to a company whose product or service you really love.
  • Make time to listen to someone who needs to talk.
  • Spend some time out in nature, appreciating the beauty of creation.
  • Volunteer your services or help someone in need.

You can also show your gratitude just for being alive by treating others well and being kind to yourself. Relaxing and taking time to unwind from the stress of everyday life is very important, and you’ll be happier and healthier because of it.

Focus on What Really Matters

Many people are unhappy with their circumstances, and it’s often because they feel they don’t have enough money, a big house, or the ultimate car. These things are nice, but in the grand scheme of things, they don’t really matter. After all, when you’re on your deathbed, will you wish you had that red Ferrari? Or will you wish that you had more time with your loved ones?

Connect with what really matters by being grateful for all you’ve been given.

There will be obstacles and stumbling blocks in life, but there is joy all around you as well. When you tap into that joy, keep a positive attitude, and show how grateful you are, you’ll prove that you’re able to let go of unnecessary baggage. It’s a great feeling, and one that you can give yourself, today, right now. What a wonderful thing to be grateful for!

Boost Your Self-Confidence With Positive Self-Talk

Published on July 13th, 2011 by FPEServices

Yogi Berra once said that ninety percent of the game is mental. He was talking about the game of baseball, of course, but your attitude determines your altitude in every area of your life. Your thoughts determine your destiny!

A can-do attitude and a healthy dose of self-confidence is all you need to succeed. You, too, can be one of those go-getters who achieve great things.

A little positive reinforcement can go a long way in boosting your self-assurance. Self-talk that supports your goals will have a greater impact on boosting your overall self image than the opinions of others.

You are the Master of your Fate

Do you feel that your life is lacking in some area? If you’re experiencing challenges romantically, professionally, or in any other area of life, know that you are the key to changing it. Instead of placing blame on yourself and feeling defeated, realize that you are your greatest chance to effect change that leads to success in any aspect of your life.

You Can Do It

thoughts lead toactions that produce detrimental results.

But this can work the other way, too. By telling yourself that you can succeed, you create a self-fulfilling prophecy that supports your success.

Positive Reinforcement is Optimistic

When you believe that you can succeed, you’ll feel more confident to take the steps that are required to overcome the challenges you face. With positive reinforcement, even failures become opportunities to learn and grow.

You can replace the voice in your head that causes you fear with one that pushes you forward by focusing on the good within yourself.

Convince yourself that you’re capable of greatness by replacing negative thoughts with more productive self-talk. Then, when you do achieve your goal or overcome that challenge, you’ll have an additional dose of confidence that will spur you on to greater success.

Cue the Music!

For big challenges, support yourself as much as possible. In addition to speaking words of encouragement to yourself, consider playing some music to pump you up. Whether it’s the theme to Rocky or Europe’s The Final Countdown, music can boost your self-belief and ease your worries.

If you don’t have an MP3 or CD player handy, hum your favorite songs while you prepare. Inspirational tunes can make you feel like you can take on any challenge.

Your mind plays a large part determining the level of success you experience. Tell yourself that youcan do it. Positive self-talk will increase your confidence in your own abilities. When you add the drive and willpower, you can achieve anything you want in life!
